Thekkady, located between the evergreen and semi-evergreen Western Ghats, is a clear reservoir of many vulnerable species and a thriving indigenous culture. It also has an abundance of tropical greenery. For those who adore nature in its raw forms, Thekkady is a lovely paradise on earth. Thekkady, which is located about 4 kilometres from Kumily, a peaceful plantation town on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, provides refuge to herds of gaurs, elephants, sambar, tigers, and the endemic lion-tailed macaques in addition to colonies of Nilgiri langurs. Located nearby is the 777 square kilometre Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is covered in dense evergreen forest.
Thekkady is surrounded by dense teak and spice jungles, which enhance its environment and provide a year-round layer of green. The best time to visit Thekkady is between December and January since the days are still cool and misty and the evenings could get chilly. This is the most delightful period of the year. Thekkady gets very hot between April and May, which are the hottest months and should be avoided.
Now you can enjoy the unspoiled beauty of nature at its finest with a trip package to Thekkady, which is surrounded by the allure of the spice plantations and ornamented by the alluring western ghats. Also, a number of the main festivals that draw plenty of visitors to this location take place throughout the winter. Our Thekkady tour packages will take you on a journey to see some of the rarest types of birds that migrate during the winter, as well as to discover the many different kinds of wildlife that will astound you.
The Periyar Tiger Reserve, the most well-known wildlife sanctuary in South India, is home to a thriving population of sambar, bison, Nilgiri langur, Malabar giant squirrel, stripe-necked mongoose, gaur, and wild boar, as well as about 2000 elephants and 40 tigers that roam its lush, evergreen slopes all year long. A lake tour is the most popular option, but even while it may not guarantee enough wildlife sightings, it is nevertheless strongly advised to see the area and its serene, unspoiled surroundings.
If you are an avid trekker, this is the perfect spot for you. You can climb Ottakathalamedu, the highest mountain in the area. Taking a jeep excursion from Kumily to the location might also be a very tempting activity for visitors. From the mountain's summit, you will get to enjoy a splendid view of the Periyar Lake.
You don't need to travel all the way to Coorg in Karnataka if you want to visit a coffee estate. Kerala has its own farms for growing coffee. Just 5 kilometres from Thekkady, there is a breathtakingly beautiful location called Murikkady that offers a view of misty coffee farms and spice plantations that produce everything from black pepper, star anise, and nutmeg.
I enjoyed this mini-cruise on the Backwaters; the boat was very comfortable, attentive staff and delicious food.We were able to admire the magnificent scenery along the canals, enjoy the peaceful setting and observe nature, birds, trees, rice fields and residents living near the Backwaters. An unforgettable trip that I recommend to lovers of nature.
he chance to travel in the exotic state of Kerala along the banks of a beautiful river, surrounded by lush green vegetation was truly an amazing experience. The landscape was fully covered of thick forest and neighbouring the gorgeous waterfalls brings the real eternal joy. Thanks to the wonderful experience gifted by Tours In India.
I took houseboats and also canoe trip here and it was fabulous! Beautiful untouched nature with so much greenery and water canals all over like city streets and intersections. Also mango, banana and coconut trees on watersides… people transporting rice from the fields to the city with human power boats. Beautiful experience and professional level of service, totally recommended!
